These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Scholarcy mobile application ("Scholarcy", "the App", "we", "our", or "us").
By downloading, accessing, or using Scholarcy, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the App.
Scholarcy is an iOS application designed to help users read, summarize, organize, and study research papers.
The App may provide features including:
Research paper summarization
AI-generated summaries
Key concept extraction
Highlighting
Flashcards
Research comparison
Literature synthesis
Knowledge graph features
Offline document storage
PDF export
Features may be added, modified, or removed over time.
Scholarcy uses artificial intelligence to analyze and summarize research content.
AI-generated summaries, highlights, explanations, flashcards, comparisons, and other outputs are provided for informational and educational purposes only.
AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, inaccuracies, or misunderstandings.
You should always review the original research paper and use your own judgment when relying on information provided by the App.
Scholarcy does not guarantee that AI-generated content is complete, accurate, or suitable for any particular purpose.
Scholarcy is an educational and research assistance tool.
The App does not provide medical, legal, financial, academic, or other professional advice.
If you are a clinician, researcher, student, or other professional, you are responsible for independently verifying information before using it for professional, academic, clinical, or other important decisions.
You may import or submit documents, PDFs, images, links, abstracts, notes, highlights, and other content ("User Content") to the App.
You retain ownership of your User Content.
By using features that require processing of your User Content, you grant Scholarcy the limited rights necessary to process that content and provide the requested features.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights and permissions to upload, process, or use any content you provide through the App.
Scholarcy does not claim ownership of research papers or other copyrighted materials that you import into the App.
You are responsible for complying with applicable copyright and intellectual property laws when using the App.
You must not use Scholarcy to infringe the intellectual property rights of others.
The Scholarcy application, including its software, design, branding, features, interface, and original content, is owned by or licensed to us and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, decompile, or create derivative works of the App except where permitted by applicable law.
Scholarcy may offer paid subscription plans that provide access to premium features.
Subscription details, pricing, duration, and available features are displayed in the App before purchase.
Subscriptions are purchased through Apple's App Store and are billed to your Apple ID.
Payment is charged to your Apple ID account upon confirmation of purchase.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period.
Your account may be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period.
You can manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID settings.
Scholarcy may occasionally offer free trials, introductory pricing, or other promotional offers.
The terms and duration of any such offer will be displayed at the time it is presented.
Unless otherwise stated, a free trial or promotional subscription will automatically convert into a paid subscription when the applicable promotional period ends.
Payments and refunds for subscriptions purchased through Apple's App Store are handled according to Apple's applicable policies.
Scholarcy does not directly process App Store subscription payments.
If you believe you are entitled to a refund, you should use Apple's refund process.
You agree not to:
Use the App for unlawful purposes
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App or its systems
Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the App
Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except where permitted by law
Abuse, exploit, or circumvent subscription or usage limitations
Upload content that you do not have the right to use
Use the App to infringe the rights of others
Attempt to circumvent security or technical protections
We may restrict or terminate access to the App if we reasonably believe that these Terms have been violated.
We do not guarantee that Scholarcy will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
Features may depend on internet connectivity, third-party services, Apple's systems, or other technical infrastructure.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features of the App at any time.
Scholarcy may rely on third-party services to provide certain features, including AI processing, cloud services, analytics, subscription management, or other technical functionality.
Your use of third-party services may also be subject to the terms and policies of those third parties.
We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or functionality of third-party services.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Scholarcy is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
We do not guarantee that:
The App will always function without errors
AI-generated results will always be accurate or complete
Summaries will contain every important detail from a research paper
The App will meet every user's particular requirements
The App will always be available or uninterrupted
You use Scholarcy at your own discretion and risk.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Scholarcy and its developers, owners, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or other damages arising from or related to your use of the App.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.
You may stop using Scholarcy at any time by deleting the App from your device.
We may suspend or terminate access to certain features if you violate these Terms or if necessary to protect the App, its users, or our services.
Termination does not affect any rights or obligations that by their nature should continue after termination.
We may update these Terms from time to time.
When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
Your continued use of Scholarcy after changes to these Terms means that you accept the updated Terms.
Scholarcy is distributed through Apple's App Store.
Apple is not responsible for providing maintenance or support services for the App.
To the extent required by Apple's App Store terms, Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce these Terms against you.
Your use of Scholarcy is also subject to the applicable terms and conditions of the Apple App Store.
These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws applicable to the jurisdiction in which the owner or operator of Scholarcy is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under mandatory consumer protection laws applicable to you.
