Iowa School Performance Profiles

The Iowa School Performance Profiles (ISPP) are used to show progress on Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) improvement as well as meet requirements from the Iowa Legislature to provide common information about Iowa's schools.

Schools are evaluated on a mixture of criteria and rated on the following scale: Exceptional, High Performing, Commendable, Acceptable, Needs Improvement, and Priority.

You can visit the Iowa School Performance Profiles and search for any public school or district in Iowa by using the following link: https://www.iaschoolperformance.gov.

Below, I included a short summary of areas where we might focus our efforts. Growth in reading and growth in math account for a very large portion of the score received from ISPP.

The Conditions for Learning (CFL) is a survey taken by students to rate their agreement with the following cultural areas: adult-student relationships, emotional safety, expectations/boundaries, physical safety, and student-student relationships.

Based on these criteria (plus additional criteria), ICSD's schools scored:

  • High School - Acceptable
  • Middle School - Acceptable
  • Emerson Elementary - Commendable
  • Irving Elementary - Commendable
  • Whittier Elementary - High Performing
  • Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary - Commendable

Below, I have broken down the Conditions for Learning (CFL) results for the secondary schools. I did not include the elementary schools because until recently, only 5th-12 grade students took the CFL survey. In the next release of CFL results, 3rd and 4th graders will also have taken the CFL survey. At that time, we will have a more representative picture for our elementary schools.
