Schlomer for School Board

Hello, my name is Kevin Schlomer and I am running for a seat on the Indianola Community School District Board of Directors. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and why I am asking for your vote this November.

Who am I?

In short, I am a lifelong central Iowa resident and a career educator. I graduated from Norwalk High School in 1998; in 2014, my family and I returned to Warren County when we moved to our current house in Indianola.

I understand teaching and public schools. For 17 years I have worked in the roles of elementary teacher, driver's education teacher, instructional coach, program coordinator, adjunct professor, and educational consultant in seven different education systems. I am thoroughly aware of the inner workings of school systems as well as what it is like to teach students every day.

This gives me a unique perspective that few other candidates have--I understand the issues on an entirely different level because I have experienced them first-hand for almost two decades.

Why vote for me?

Because I believe that strong leadership matters. With 17 years of experience in classroom teaching and leadership positions around the Des Moines metro area, I know the ins and outs of public schools.

In addition, my seven years of employment at Indianola Schools mean I know how the system works and what we can do to provide a world-class education for the students in our community.

On the attached pages, I have described my qualifications, principles, and priorities in service to the Indianola Community School District. If you feel that you agree with my ideas, I would humbly ask for your vote.

I believe that with the right leadership there is unlimited potential for amazing things to happen!

Please VOTE for Schlomer for School Board on November 5, 2019.

My Vision for the Indianola Community School District

ICSD will be the central Iowa leader of teaching, learning, and leadership practices. This will make us the #1 destination district for families, teachers, staff, and administrators.

My Vision for the ICSD Board of Directors

The ICSD Board of Directors establishes clarity in the district's vision, priorities, operation, and official policy.

Under the direction and supervision of the Board, the administration implements procedures and guidance to carry out the Board's intentions. As an independent and elected entity, the Board is accountable to the public to provide the best opportunities possible for children, families, school employees, and residents.
