Relative Location: The Scheele Preserve is 36 acers of land on the northeast side of the island. There is a half-mile hiking trail to reach the beach. The entrance is off of Monagan Road. [2]

The trail highlights the tall grass, small trees, an overall woods atmosphere before arriving at a quiet shell and rock beach. [3]

Native plants on Scheele Reserve give Snout and Swallowtail caterpillars place to grow. The hiking trail highlights the tall grass, rock elm trees, man made bridges, and a overall woodsy atmosphere before arriving at a quiet shell and rock beach. [3]

Due to the Preserves elevated PH, its able to support a unusual mixture of southern, prairie, and boreal plant species. [6]
