Decoding neuro-immune crosstalk at single-cell resolution
Integrative single-cell, spatial, and computational genomics
Our group investigates the molecular and cellular basis of neuro-immune interactions. We study how immune cells — both within the central nervous system and in peripheral tissues — shape, and are shaped by, the nervous system, with a particular interest in chronic inflammation and neurodegeneration. By integrating single-cell and spatial transcriptomics with computational genomics, we aim to resolve the cellular heterogeneity and intercellular communication that underlie neuro-immune crosstalk across health, aging, and disease.
We generate high-resolution single-cell and spatial transcriptomic datasets from diverse experimental models and perform integrative computational analyses to characterize immune cell identity, function, and tissue context at single-cell resolution. In parallel, we develop computational methods for integrating single-cell, spatial, and multi-omics data. Through this approach, we identify disease- and context-specific immune cell states, characterize neuro-immune interactions in the aging and degenerating brain, and build analytical tools that advance our understanding of how the immune system contributes to neurological health and disease.
