Each activity runs 15-20 minutes. Each VBS workshop session should be scheduled at 25 minutes to allow for 5 minutes traveling and preparation time between sessions.
Cross to the other side without disturbing the spiderweb!
You will need:
Long rope
Pillars/trees or similar standing structures
This activity requires at least 2 responsible adults per group.
Always make sure there are no sharp edges/objects for the children to bump into.
If you feel that the ground is too hard, place a mat under the rope/fall area.
Cross the river with newspaper floats!
You will need:
Newspaper
Masking tape or a marker tool to indicate the start and end of the river
This activity requires at least 1 responsible adult to oversee the activity per group.
There are very few hazards in this activity.
Keep some extra newspapers with you in case they tear their "floats"! (This will likely happen very often)
Move a ball from a distance with a ring and some strings!
You will need:
5 or more long strings (or thin rope)
A ring,
A ball that fits on the ring
This activity requires at least 2 responsible adults per group.
Always make sure there are no sharp edges/objects for the children to bump into.
Keep replacing the ball each time it drops.
The supervising adult should aid the children in understanding how to manipulate the rope so the ball doesn't fall.
Pass along a ball with your feet without dropping it. It's harder than it looks!
This activity is quite easy to prepare, you only need a ball to play this. You can use various types and sizes of balls if you wish.
You will need:
A ball
This activity requires at least 1 responsible adult to oversee the activity per group.
There are very few hazards in this activity.
This activity requires little interference, just make sure everyone is keeping the rules!
Help them catch the ball if it rolls away.
Challenge the kids by removing the use of their hands and linking them together!
You will need:
One rope, roughly 2 meters long
This activity requires at least 2 responsible adults per group.
Always make sure there are no sharp edges/objects for the children to bump into.
