What's being planned...

A proposal to build an new, offline dual carriageway between Beddingham and the Cophall Roundabout, just north of Polegate, was rejected by the Department of Transport in 2016, as being: too expensive (at £450m), poor value for money, and bad for the environment.

Our politicians didn't like being turned down, so have been lobbying ever since for a recalculation. They developed a new business case - and that failed to make it into the Department for Transport plans for spending up to 2025.

But the plan, with three route options, is still in play, with the Department for Transport saying it should be developed for possible inclusion in spending plans from 2025 to 2030.

This business case is seriously flawed. You can read it here. Our critique is available below. If you want to be kept up-to-date with news of our campaign, please email info@scateeastsussex.com.
