In this photo, Ainsley is taking a picture of Amy and me while we film our Longform segment. We took a day trip to Utica, MS, to learn about food deserts and how food insecurity affects the people who live in them.
My team is always here to support me. In this picture, I received a certificate for In The Field: Best Portrait. I couldn’t have earned it without their encouragement and help.
I have a passion for sports reporting, and even though I am now head producer, I still enjoy filming games and corresponding on sports reports.
As the 2025–2026 JNN Head Producer, it is my responsibility to ensure that JNN members feel prepared for their interviews. Here, I am creating a video for the class about microphone settings to make sure the audio quality in our segments is clear and professional.
"Although Scarlett's job description is editing and directing The Central, she means so much more than that to the group as a whole. She is so unbelievably helpful to everybody in multiple ways. She will go help film B-roll and get interviews, help you find good leads, and is ready to give advice 24/7"
-Joe Nicholson, Jaguar News Network Sophomore Reporter
"Scarlett is very helpful and hands-on with everyone. If you need someone to help you with anything, you can always go to her for whatever. She's made JNN very fun as well and made it easier to learn how to work everything."
-Andrea Ray, Jaguar News Network Sophomore Sports Reporter
"I have worked closely with Scarlett Sullivan for collectively two years now. I have seen her go from working tirelessly as a sports reporter and attending every game asked of her, and always provide excelent energy to the camera. Now, seeing her manage the classroom and coaching that same energy into students. She has amazing organizational skills and is the best head producer I could ask for."
-Ainsley Deel, Jaguar News Network Sports Producer
I like to send out weekly texts outlining the work we will be doing in JNN each week. I often attach notes to clarify any questions my team may have
As head producer, I want to ensure my team is creating the best segments possible. To do this, I send out written summaries of the points we discussed on critique day, often highlighting the most crucial information in capital letters.
When I realized my team wasn’t satisfied with the grades they were receiving on their segments, I sent out a series of messages with tips on how to improve. I also encouraged them to text me privately with anything they needed help with that we didn’t have time to cover in class.
I often check in with JNN members to make sure they are staying on task. Here, I am texting one of my peers to confirm their progress while also offering advice.
Here, I am sending out instructions on how to write a lead, often including examples to provide my team members with a clear reference.
I often devote my time on weekends, before school, and after school to help others with their correspondence and guide them when problems arise.
In the emails above, I am reaching out to the 9th Grade High Tech Video teacher (left) and the Creative Writing teacher (right). As Head Producer of JNN, I want to ensure we have a strong class next year, so it is important to me to speak to potential JNN members.
