How you can help

We placed our first Cuddle Cot in Newport Hospital!

On July 18, 2015, Jim and I had to say goodbye to our daughter Scarlet Suzy. She was born still at 26 weeks, killed by a misdiagnosed Listeria infection. Less than an hour after delivery, we were asked to sign off on paperwork for arrangement of her remains. We asked for her remains to be cremated. The doctor told us she would be cremated. 16 months later, we found out that she was buried less than 5 miles from our home.

While reflecting upon the horror and trauma of our experience, we were appalled at the lack of time given to us to make a decision. Everything that day was a rush and in the midst of our grief (along with pain medication & physical trauma of birth) we were asked to sign off on paperwork and make huge decisions within a matter of minutes. We decided to make it our goal and mission to make sure this never happened to another grieving family. One of our ideas was to start a charity… Scarlet’s Mission.

Our goal is simple... allow more time for parents and loved ones with their angels. We hope to accomplish this goal in a few ways -- Cuddle Cots, State Legislation and continued education for hospitals and staff.

Thank you for your continued support of our family and our cause.
