When you connect a scanner to your device or add a new scanner to your home network, you can usually start scanning pictures and documents right away. If your scanner doesn't automatically install, here's some help to get things working.

In most cases, all you have to do to set up a scanner is to connect it to your device. Plug the USB cable from your scanner into an available USB port on your device, and turn the scanner on. If that doesn't work, here's a way to do it manually.

If your scanner is turned on and connected to the network, Windows should find it automatically. Available scanners can include all scanners on a network, such as Bluetooth and wireless scanners or scanners that are plugged into another device and shared on the network. Here's a way to do it manually.

If you use wireless access points, extenders or multiple wireless routers with separate SSIDs, you'll need to ensure that you're connected to the same network as the scanner for your PC to find and install it.

If your scanner is included in a multifunction or All-In-One printer, you may only see the name of your printer. To see your scanner, under Printers & scanners, select your installed printer, select Manage, and then choose your scanner.

After your scan is finished, select View to see the scanned file before you save it, or select Close to save it. You can edit the scanned document or picture in the preview that appears when you select View.

The connection with the printer with my USB cable is working (I'm not using a laptop but a tower as a computer), the scanner is doing is job by scanning the document, but I can't get the preview on my screen. When the preview is trying to load, it keeps freezing and nothing appears.

Place a document on the machine, and press PC1> or PC2>, and scanning starts immediately. The type of scan (color or black and white), the save destination for the document, and other settings can be registered to a button, and documents can be scanned using those settings. This section describes how to register settings in a button and scan with it. USPayserv

Before I was using MF Toolbox and everything was working fine, I could get a Preview before scanning. But now, when I try to get a Preview using MF Toolbox, the scanner is scanning the document, but the Preview is freezing on my computer screen like that:

I know enough about packet analysis to find out what the root cause of a problem is most of the time, so I had a look at those 2 packet captures side by side. What I saw in them was identical. Repeated reverse DNS lookups that continually failed causing scans to deliver slowly.

If you are interested in learning more through personal analysis you can take a packet capture using the built-in network troubleshooting log function found in the security section of the Xerox Embedded Web Server. Take a capture of the scanning process with your previous DNS servers configured and one with the new ones and take a look at the difference in Wireshark.

I would need to see a network troubleshooting log (packet capture) to verify that I'm correct, but in my experience this is usually caused by failed reverse DNS lookups. An easy test to validate my assumption is to remove any DNS entries from the machines TCP/IP settings and retest scanning. Of course you'll need to have your scan configuration setup via IP and not hostname since we've removed DNS servers. If it works normally without DNS servers entered on the Xerox and you want to have DNS servers configured on the device then you'll need to look into your server side configuration and make sure that reverse dns zones and PTR's that are properly configured so the queries that the machine makes can complete.

Hi, I installed the OVA of Wazuh 4.4.5 (latest). I changed my admin password, I enabled the Vulnerabilities scanner in the config file, I make sure to restart. I also added the config for the Agent.

But it seems that the Full scan or Partial Scan on ALL my Windows version do not have ANY vulnerabilities... I think it's not just working. I have Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019 and 2022 along with Win10 Pro and Win11 Pro agents, all with NO vulnerabilities...

Note: This disables the Shell Hardware Detection services, which Provides notifications for AutoPlay hardware events. Also the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service depends on it to Provide image acquisition services for scanners and cameras.

If you disable the shell hardware detection service, you can still use your scanner with the WIA service but setting WIA to Manual. If you have trouble with your scanning software, create a batch file that starts WIA: "net start StiSvc" and then runs your scanners software.

I have just seen how many people are having the same problem and have tried one suggestion that ECHO_Lake advised but my HP Envy 5020 still does not scan. The printer and the copier work but it won't scan. Hewlett Packard should do as Epson are doing which is provide a link to a free 'patch' that enables the windows 11 and the scanner to be compatible and once again work. My sister has an Epson which is over 10 years old yet they still did this for her and didn't charge. When we bought the HP computer 3 years ago we deliberately opted for a new HP printer/scanner as we thought the 2 would be compatible, whatever software updates were installed. We were wrong and now HP are just providing virtual support that has had me and clearly many other people wasting hours and days of their time by going around in circles in the website. Hewlett Packard it is not good enough!!

I've written a python program that uses os.walk along with os.path.getsize to get the file list, and it works fine, but is not particularly fast. I noticed one of the freeware programs I had downloaded accomplished the same scan much faster than my program.

Any ideas for speeding up the file scan? Here's my python code, but keep in mind that I'm not at all married to os.walk and perfectly willing to use others APIs (including windows native APIs) if there are better alternatives.

It is much faster than python walk, but uses the same syntax. Just import scandir and change os.walk() to scandir.walk(). That's it. It is the fastest way to traverse directories and files in python.

The IJ Scan Utility is needed in order to scan photos and documents from your scanner to your computer. This is included in the MP Drivers package or Driver Setup Package (depending on your model) and may have been installed when you first set up the printer.

If you have not already installed the MP Drivers package or Driver Setup Package you can find downloads for those here: Software and Drivers.

Mac user? If you are using a Mac computer, learn how to download and run the IJ Scan Utility on a Mac.

Once the IJ Scan Utility is open, be sure that your device is listed at the top of the window. Place your photo or document on the scanner, and then choose either Photo or Document on the IJ Scan Utility to initiate the scan.

If you have more than one scanner or have changed from a USB connection to a network connection, you'll need to set the network environment from the IJ Scan Utility. Learn how to set network scan settings. You can also visit this article to learn how to use the IJ Scan Utility.

Optimized scan could not complete scan on volume [D:\] as the database processing reported disk full error. This volume has [87591624704] bytes of free space available. SQLite is using [C:\Windows\TEMP\] as the path for its temporary usage, and this volume has [33618767872] bytes of free space available.

Typically a scan is going to be rather fuzzy (depending on tolerances) and will require substantial clean up before meshing or sectioning. I like CloudCompare to clean and get things registered before bring into rhino in manageable chunks.

the model will be used for general design mostly. If I need to build something accurately I think I would go back and rescan just the part of the room I need. Faro recommends 1/4 resolution and 4x quality for scanning buildings, so I will start with that. What settings do you recommend? T

Follow the steps below to scan a document using Brother iPrint&Scan in Windows or macOS.

(Illustrations or setting items may vary depending on the version of the application and operating system.)

> Download and start Brother iPrint&Scan.

 > Scan a document using Brother iPrint&Scan.

 > Configure the scan button setting.

 > Configure the scan settings.

 > Register the scan settings that are commonly used.

If I go into Windows Defender and start a Full Scan, it tells me I can keep working while it scans. If I close that window and open it back up I lose all the information about the scan that is going on. I can't seem to find any way to view the current scan status, ETA, stop it, etc. Is this a bug in Windows 10 or am I just not seeing where to go?

And once you have the Full Scan going, if you close that window and then go back to the same screen, you see the status of the scan running? All I see is the main dashboard information with no indication that a scan is currently running.
