A comprehensive system for monitoring student achievement and progress is available to educators, students, and parents. Edgenuity’s direct-instruction videos feature expert, on-screen teachers who explain concepts, model strategies, provide examples, and make real-world connections. Students stop to complete tasks that check for understanding. They can also pause or rewind videos to take notes or review concepts as they progress through instruction at their own pace. Proxy hours for LACES (Does this software program stop tracking if the student is not actually working within the program, making keystrokes?)- Yes, both active and idle time are tracked continuously. When a student is working in Edgenuity, the system tracks both active and idle time, as it is very important for a teacher to know how much time they actually spent working in the course. Some idle time is to be expected to allow students to read, listen to the video based instruction, think about what they have read, etc; however, if a student is logged in for 2 hours and, 1 hour and 55 minutes are idle time, the teacher needs to have access to that data. Students soon figure out that the teacher can track this, which motivates them to work harder!
