Volunteer at local shelters/ranches/farms
Obtain shadowing/intern opportunities (with both small and large animals)
Request letters of recommendations after your internship/programs/opportunities has ended
Fulfill veterinary school pre-requisites
Continue all as stated above
Gain research experiences (not necessarily has to deal with animals)
Prepare for the GRE*, which should be taken before/or during the summer of junior year if you wish to enter vet school immediately
If you wish to take a gap year, the GRE can be taken before/or during the summer of senior year
***Many vet schools are removing the GRE from their requirements beginning the 2020 cycle, so be sure check if your desired vet schools require it!

End of January - June: Create a VMCAS account and prepare for online application (gather letters of recommendations)
July: Prepare for the GRE (if you have not already taken it)
August: Prepare for online applications, write personal statements, collect transcripts
September: The last month to take the GRE and submit your score
September 15: DEADLINE FOR ONLINE APPLICATIONS THROUGH VMACAS
October - November: Deadline for supplemental applications (varies from school to school)
December: Initial interviews
January: Begin filing for FAFSA (the deadline is in June)
February - March: Attend additional interviews, and wait for decisions
April 15: Deadline for accepting or declining offers
