Mission:
BYTES is a sub-program of SBSE that aims to expose students to hands-on engineering early in their academic careers. By diving head first into maker projects, students will have the opportunity to learn and practice skills like 3D printing, circuit design, coding, prototyping, and project planning.
Workshops:
During fall quarter, students can join in on any of the weekly workshops covering various engineering topics. These workshops are hosted by both upperclassmen and corporate partners. The aim of these workshops is to get students to begin thinking about potential projects they may want to work on. BYTES will also begin accepting applications for funding student-designed individual and team projects for winter quarter.
Some Past Workshops
Projects:
After groups have had their proposals approved at the end of Fall, they will begin working on them during Winter Quarter. They will be awarded a $500 budget for materials and have access to the BYTES project coordinators. These projects are then showcased at the end of the year.
