School-based Perspectives for Physical Therapists during COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic and resulting social distancing has changed the way we practice and perform our roles. Our schools are closed... In this new and changing domain, we are all striving to meet the student's physical therapy needs using alternate education models. This website was designed to provide information and resources to school-based physical therapists and their teams practicing at a distance. More documents are being created, please check back often. As licensed professionals, we are always responsible for following the most current guidelines for our practice. This website is meant to support you in this process but does not intend to be your only source of information. Please see all regional, state, and national evidence-based sources when making decisions about your practice. The APTA website has the most current guidelines for managing our practice through the pandemic.

Informed by models used in Early Intervention, these documents help us plan, conduct and document our virtual sessions whether in Early Intervention, Schools or Out-patient. (4/10/2020)

As part of the toolkit, we created several Google Forms to help guide parent interviews about their readiness for synchronous telehealth sessions and their child's engagement in therapy sessions.
