Bhanu Sharma
PhD Scholar (DBT-SRF)
His research focuses on the discovery and evaluation of novel compounds for the treatment of neurological disorders, with a particular emphasis on phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitors. Phosphodiesterases, as key regulators of intracellular signaling, have emerged as compelling therapeutic targets for conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis. Employing a multidisciplinary approach, he utilizes computational drug discovery, high-throughput screening, and in vitro and in vivo zebrafish models to identify and characterize promising PDE inhibitors. His work has led to the identification of several candidate compounds exhibiting high selectivity and potency against specific PDE isoforms implicated in neurodegenerative pathways, offering new hope for advancing treatments in this critical field of medicine.
