Task 1: 2017 September

1 0.0km SS Exit RR r: 500m

2 3.0km Enter WBOWL r: 600m

3 8.9km ES Enter PARKRS r: 600m

4 9.1km Enter PARKRS r: 400m

Start Gates will be everyday at 9, 10, 11, 12, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Take any startgate you want. If you want to gaggle fly like a real comp, then announce the night before or on the van ride up to everyone which Startgate you want to use that day.

Task is basically an Exit cylinder at RR, Enter cylinder at Westbowl, End of Speed Section at Parkers large cylinder, Goal at Parkers small cylinder.

I am learning a ton too on contest scoring, task setting, routes in instruments, etc. So please send me track logs whether you think you got the route in your instrument correctly or not and whether you completed task or not, etc, etc. No big deal, I just want data to figure all this stuff out. We will have a instrument How-To and Competition explanation at the October Club meeting.

Considerations: Flying behind Cathedral or behind Westbowl can have a fair amount of rotor with West Wind. If a decent amount of wind is occurring then it is recommended to stay in front of Cathedral and Westbowl. Please do not fly within 500ft of the Roundhouse on the Antenna Farm ridge.

Bailout LZs: San Marcos Open Space foothills below Westbowl has huge fields for HG and PG, the biggest being the T. The foothills in front of Cathedral have powerlines that you can be in front of and follow the ridge to the West to Robins LZ. Good for PG and HG. Land near the mountain side of the strip as the end can be lifty (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5a4AXjVyoc) Hike out Jesusita Trail. The Holy Hills in front of RR have spines that lead SE towards Parma and have St. Marys LZ for a bail out. Good for PG and Kingpost HG. In front of Parkers is a fireroad ridge that leads to Lower Parma. The entire ridge is landable for PG and Kinpost HG.
