How-to-Guide to Create a Data Science PBL Unit

• Differentiate between Course project and Project-Based Learning (requirement)

• Identify the most common or essential PBL elements

• Selection of the Data Science Project and identify the competencies, skills and knowledge required for the project (see PBL- planning phase). Use a skills/competencies matrix at the project level

• For each stage of the project, describe the role of the facilitator/students and the artefacts (see PBL- all phases)

• Identify which PBL elements and learning methods that would be most appropriate at the different stages of the project (active learning, inductive learning, just-in time teaching etc.).

• For each stage of the project, generate a skills/competencies matrix to identify which specific skills, knowledge and abilities are required to perform the tasks (given a specific task level)

• Validate and verify that Skills/Competencies at the project level are covered at the task level

• Review steps to align activities/learning/teaching strategies and roles.
