Hello Sayre Families,
Safety First!
Please remember that at drop off in the morning, students are to walk to their lockers independently. If you do have an appointment and will be in the building, you must check in with the office first. District policy is that all adults who enter the student portion of the building must always check in at the office with proper identification. Thank you in advance for following the expectation.
Smart Watches/Gizmo
Please make sure that your child leaves his or her Gizmo/Smart Watch at home or in his or her backpack. As these devices have the same capabilities as cell phones. They fall under the cell phone use policy. Thank you in advance!

Junior Kindergarten Families- Update
A bit of clarification for our current Junior Kindergarten families- you do not need to attend Kindergarten registration in order for your Junior Kindergarten student to move up to Kindergarten. Closer to the registration events, we will provide you with paperwork so you can clarify for us whether you are planning to attend your boundary elementary school or submit Schools of Choice paperwork. Your child is already fully registered with the district. We apologize for the confusion!
2018-19 Student Directory
Two files are attached, one is the excel version that is searchable and the other is a PDF, so perfect for printing. Thanks to Maureen Krause for her hard work putting the student directory together.
Winter Wear
The office would appreciate any donations of large snow pants, thanks!

ALICE Drills
Please read below for information regarding the elementary level ALICE drills
The district staff has been trained in ALICE (Alert/Lockdown/Inform/Counter/Evacuate) procedures in cases of intruders in our school buildings. The knowledge gained from our training will be shared with all students on November 19, 2018. In general, staff will share the following information with students:
The staff and students will be notified that an “ALICE” drill will begin by an announcement from the principal. Students will practice the classroom lockdown procedures after being instructed by their teachers. The students will be instructed to be quiet and listen to the adult(s) in the classroom and/or the announcements. They will be told that the instructions will vary depending on the situation so that it is important to listen carefully. They will be told that there will be options depending on the situation and that they may find a safe hiding spot in the classroom or may be directed to evacuate the building to an area specified by the adult(s). The first drill will include hiding away from clear sight lines of windows and doors and finding a safe place in the classroom. The principal will conclude the drill with an all-school announcement. Teachers will debrief with their students to conclude the first drill. In a future drill, students will practice evacuating to a safe spot that will be specified by the adult(s). The third and final drill will allow the students and adult to react to the alert that is given by the use of the emergency notification system that we have in the schools. Each drill will conclude by the adult(s) and the students debriefing. There will be an emphasis on listening to the adult(s) in the area so that students can react appropriately.

The Penguin Patch Holiday Shop is coming to Sayre on December 3rd. Students will be able to browse the shop and purchase items to be gifted during the holidays. All gifts range from $1-$10 and students will be able to purchase gifts on Friday, December 7th. Stay tuned for more information!
