In 2017, I was selected as a Roy. W Howard Japan Reporting fellow by the Scripps-Howard foundation and the University of Indiana. That year, in May, I traveled alongside eight other student journalists from across the U.S. to Japan on an eight-day journalism trip. During our time in Osaka, Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Kyoto, we met with reporters from the Associated Press, Reuters, Bloomberg, and local Japanese broadcasting stations.
