Say Less, by drayconotdraco productions
Last updated: July 1, 2026
This policy explains how the Say Less app (“the app,” “we”) handles your information. The short version: the app collects no personal data and sends nothing to us or to any third party. Everything the app stores stays on your device.
Information We Collect
None. Say Less has no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. We do not operate any server that receives your information, and we cannot see how you use the app.
Information Stored On Your Device
To make the app work, the following is saved locally on your device only — never transmitted:
• Your favorites, recently played sounds, and a per-day count of which sounds you played (used for the on-device “Trending” list).
• Your settings (volume, speed, theme, and similar preferences).
• Per-sound choices you make — photos, volume, loop, ordering, and hidden sounds.
• Audio you record and any sound files you import, kept inside the app.
• If you create a profile, the name and handle you choose, and any boards (collections of sounds) you create or save.
This information never leaves your device. Deleting the app removes all of it.
Profile And Sign-In
Using a profile is optional — you can browse, play, record, and share without one. In this version, if you set up a profile, the name and handle you pick are stored only on your device. There is no account server, we cannot see your profile, and nothing about it is transmitted. If a future version adds online sign-in or syncing across devices, this policy and the app’s App Store privacy details will be updated before that version is released.
Microphone
If you use the Record feature, the app uses your microphone only while you are actively recording. Recordings are saved on your device for your own use and are not uploaded anywhere. You can decline or revoke microphone access at any time in your device Settings.
Photos
If you choose a photo as artwork for a sound, the app uses the system photo picker. The app only receives the specific image you select — it does not get access to your photo library. The chosen image is stored on your device as that sound’s artwork.
Sharing Sounds And Boards
When you share a sound or a board, the app packages it into a file on your device (a .sayless file for a single sound, or a .saylessboard file for a collection) and hands it to whatever method you choose — for example Messages or AirDrop. We do not receive, store, or transmit what you share; the destination is entirely your choice. Opening a file someone sends you simply saves that sound or board on your device.
Widget, Siri, And Messages
To power the Home Screen and Lock Screen widget, Siri shortcuts, and the Messages extension, the app keeps your favorites — and copies of their audio and artwork — in a private storage area on your device that is shared only with these built-in features. This stays on your device and is never transmitted. When you send a sound through the Messages extension, that audio is delivered to the recipient you choose, through Messages, the same as sharing.
Third-Party Services
The app currently uses no third-party services, SDKs, advertising, or analytics. If this changes in a future version, this policy and the app’s App Store privacy details will be updated before that version is released.
Children
Say Less is not directed at children and may contain mature content. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.
Changes To This Policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the revised version at this same address.
