You got questions? We got answers! Below is the most often asked questions we get. This is updated frequently, so we try to cover the most often questions.
Who is SAW Family Farms? We are a family run small urban farm in Ocean Springs (St. Martin area). We sell locally our fresh produce that we grow as well as plants that we grow and propagate for your garden!
How do you grow your veggies? We use no pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides in our beds period! Not even the organic stuff. Why? We do this for two main reasons. The first reason is that we can't guarantee that even organic is really completely safe, so for our family and yours, we just let the water and sunshine do what it needs to do. The second reason is we love our biodiversity in our soil and gardens. We've worked really hard to build it and even the organic options may interfere with that.
How do I put in an order? Every Monday through the growing season (from October - June) we send out what we call our "fresh sheet". On that sheet, we let you know what's available for the week. You'll receive the fresh sheet via text where you can click on the link. Check out our Price List for pricing info. You can just shop at the markets where we will be to get what you want or you can put in an order where we'll either hold your order for pick up at our pick up options at the markets, etc. or we do offer home delivery in our delivery area. Home delivery does have a modest $5.00 delivery fee added. Pick up options have no delivery fee. We receive orders from Monday through Tuesday (deadline is Tuesday by noon to make sure you get your order in before delivery). Orders are delivered from Wednesday afternoon for customers in our delivery area. We ask that you put a cooler at your door, porch, etc. if you're not going to be home or just let us know where to put your veggies and we drop it off contact-free. You will receive an invoice via text with your totals. We can take payment at time of delivery (some customers even do an envelope with the money in it in a location only we're told about) or given personally. We also take credit card payments in person or via Paypal through your invoice you're texted.
What is your delivery area? What if I'm not in your delivery area ? Our delivery area is the Ocean Springs area. When you contact us, we can check to see if you are in the delivery area . If you're not in our delivery area, we have pick up times at the farmer's market in Ocean Springs on Saturday and on Wednesday at the market in Ocean Springs. We will also be at the market in Biloxi based on the week or at the park n ride off exit 50 and we can discuss day and time with you at the time you order.
Do I have to order every week? No, you do not have to order every week. Only order what you want. If you don't need anything that week, it's ok, you don't need to order. You'll still receive the fresh sheet every week unless you ask us to take you off. It's that simple.
Can I have plants delivered? Yes! During peak planting times, we sell veggie and flower plants for your garden. Any potted plants available can be delivered with your veggies!
