4/2025 By collaborating with Dr. Sina Hasheminassab at JPL, we conduct stationary monitoring of airborne particulate metals at Odyssey Charter School.
.
4/2025 By collaborating with Airthings Inc., we distributed air quality sensors at 150 homes affected by the Eaton fire. We will continue monitoring the long-term change of air quality in these homes.
3/2025 Ehsan, London, Jose, and Hanyang sampled indoor air quality of 20 homes affected by the Eaton and Palisades fires.
1/2025 Ehsan and Hanyang monitored air quality during Border 2 Fire using TARTA, Aethelometer, Atmotube, and QuantAQ sensors.
12/2024 Ehsan presented his research at AGU 2024 during the session A13F: Advances in Methods and Technologies for Emission Monitoring and Exposure Assessment to Hazardous Air Pollutants.
11/2024 Dr. Li is been selected as a recipient of the 2025 40 Under 40 Recognition Program by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists (AAEES).
7/2024 Working with Dr. Sabin Kasparoglu and Dr. Brenda E Lopez Reyna from UCD AQRC, we have assembled and calibrated 7 TARTAs for a collaborative air monitoring project between UC Davis, UC Irvine, and UC San Diego along with various environmental justice community organizations.
7/2024 Ayalen Padilla (JJ) worked in Dr. Li's lab through the UPWARD BOUND HCO Summer Academy 2024 Internships. She presented her research on using low-cost sensors to study personal exposure during the poster session.
5/2024 Ehsan presented a poster and displayed TARTA to the attendance of the 2024 Air Sensors International Conference. Dr. Li chaired the session "Sensing and Exposure Assessment of Hazardous Air Pollutants" at the conference.
4/2024 Dr. Li was invited to present at the Environmental & Occupational Health (EOH) Tech Symposium at California State University Northridge.
2/2024 Dr. Li presented our recent work (Measurement of Traffic-related Particulate Metals Using TARTA) at the 11th CRC Mobile Source Air Toxics (MSAT) Workshop in Riverside, CA.
10/2023 Dr. Li presented our recent work (High time-resolution measurements of particulate metals in environmental justice communities) at the American Association for Aerosol Research (AAAR) annual conference.
We won 1st place in Fine Particle Arts Competition (Video)! Thanks to Dylan for making the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPRZMZRvCA0
9/2023 Dr. Li served as a panelist at South Coast AQMD 9th Environmental Justice Conference: Breakout Session A - Empowering overburdened communities: bridging the resources gap and environmental justice.
8/2023 Happy to see TARTA used in an environmental justice study in Sacramento! Hope for more of these! https://www.csus.edu/news/newsroom/stories/2023/8/air-quality-project.html.

7/2023 Jimena presented her research work at MESA workshop!
7/2023 A TARTA is set up at an ASCENT site in Pico Rivera, CA. We will look into the comparison between TARTA and Xact for measurements of metal particles.
6/2023 Athena Chaparro, Shane Chapman, Jimena Castillo, and Naomika Raveendran joined the lab as student assistants. Welcome!
5/2023 We have been funded by California Air Resource Board to develop an improved user-friendly version of TARTA for research, air monitoring, and citizen science applications.
11/2022 Our proposal (collaborated with Comite Civico del Valle Inc and UC Davis) has been funded by EPA. We are going to establish a regional air monitoring network in the highly polluted Salton Sea Air Basin to screen for toxic metal hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) at low cost and high time resolution. https://www.epa.gov/newsreleases/biden-harris-administration-announces-53-million-132-community-air-pollution
