Step 1a: Add Savvas content as assigments

In this tutorial, you will learn how to add Savvas content to your course in Canvas as assignments and how you can add multiple assignments using the Savvas Realize Discover tool where you can find Savvas program content by:

Three ways to add multiple Savvas assignments to your course

Canvas now supports the ability to add multiple Savvas assignments to your Canvas course in three different ways:

1) Add Savvas assignments to a Module

Add Savvas assignments into a Module by selecting Add External Tool and selecting the Savvas Realize Course Connect tool.


2) Add Savvas assignments into a new Module*

Quickly access the Savvas Realize Discover tool from your Module page. Canvas will create a new Module with the Savvas assignments you selected.

3) Add Savvas assignments to the Assignments page*

Quickly access the Savvas Realize Discover tool from the Assignments page and add multiple Savvas assignments.

Test Settings

To prevent students from viewing assessment items after submitting a test, use the Test Settings feature.

* If you do not see the Savvas Realize Course Connection option please contact you school district's Canvas administrator who will need to configure your Canvas instance by following these directions: Setup new Canvas Deep Linking feature.

Step by step directions

Launching the Savvas Realize Discover tool

In this tutorial we will show you how to add Savvas assignments directly into an existing Module. To start, navigate to your Module and click the + icon.

Under Add select External Tool. Find and click on the Savvas Realize Course Connection external tool.

Subscribing to Savvas programs

If you are using the Realize Discover tool for the first time you will be asked to choose the Savvas programs you are interested in subscribing to. Select the program(s) you want access to and then click Ok.

In the future if you ever need to add additional Savvas programs, simply click on your name and then select My Programs.

Finding Savvas content

You will now be taken to the Savvas Realize Discover tool where you will see the Savvas programs that you are subscribed to. You can find content by:

To navigate by the table of contents, simply click on the Savvas program you are interested and use the table of contents to drill down to the content you are looking for.

2. Finding Savvas content using search

To use the search functionality simply click on Browse All Content.

In the search you can use filters and keywords to find content you are looking for.

3. Finding content from your Savvas Realize My Library

You can add content from your Savvas Realize My Library including any custom assessments and content that you created or was shared with you in Savvas Realize. You can also find your Playlists where you can add the individual items from your Playlists to import into your Canvas course.

How to preview content

You can preview any item by simply clicking on the title of the item.

From the preview you can interact with the content and preview what your students would see. To exit and go back simply click on the Exit button.

How to import content

To add Savvas items to import, simply click on the + Import button on the item you want to add. This will add the item to your "shopping cart."

You can add as many items as you want. You can review the items you added by clicking on the [x] item(s) added link.

To import the Savvas items from your "shopping cart" in your Canvas course, click on the Import button. 

You will now see the items you selected in your Canvas course.
