You are wise to be 'a little paranoid' ... but not totally. I think that hunting problems before they show themselves is not really practical. Your Mac will not get a virus ... but it may encounter malware and almost all of this can quite easily be removed.
I've been using this add-on for years in both Safari and Chrome without difficulty. (However, I once heard that there were adulterated malware versions floating around on the net.) But I wouldn't put it past them to spy. I just now installed MalwareBytes to look at this, and it flagged the Safari extension as malware/adware (although that doesn't mean anything except that it's in their database ).

I have installed the plugin from savefrom.net and i used it for about 2 months, it didn't did anything to my computer. First, let me ask you this: what is it about that extension that you want? What do you think it will do for you? I can't figure out what it's supposed to be for just by looking at the website or at the Chrome store page for that extension, and if you don't know 100% what it's for and why you should install it, then you shouldn't install it at all.
