Over the past nine months, the SAVE Task Force has studied Berkley’s financial challenges by examining local data, engaging with department leaders, and reviewing practices in surrounding communities.
This work has focused on identifying short-, mid-, and long-term strategies that are both realistic for Berkley and effective in supporting sustainable operations.
The recommendations that follow are grounded in that research. They reflect approaches used successfully in comparable communities and are informed by Berkley’s specific needs and constraints.
These are not mandates, but potential strategies to support long-term financial sustainability. Some are already underway, while others will require continued discussion, community input, and refinement over time.
