Established by the Board of Selectman, the Sustainable Actions for a Viable Economy (SAVE) Task Force is dedicated to confronting and resolving Berkley's critical financial challenges. Our mission is to provide clear, fact-based information to residents and ensure a viable financial future for our town.
Factual Information for residents, by residents
Berkley, like many small towns, faces growing financial pressures that make it increasingly difficult to maintain services year over year.
The SAVE Task Force was created to study these challenges in depth and provide residents with clear, factual information about the town’s financial situation.
SAVE was formed to help residents understand:
Why these financial pressures exist
Why short-term fixes often do not solve long-term problems
What options are available to the town
What a sustainable path forward could look like
SAVE is not a political campaign or advocacy group.
The Task Force does not have the authority to pass a budget, raise taxes, or make binding financial decisions.
SAVE is not focused on a single outcome.
The Task Force’s role is to study all potential paths and present factual information to residents.
SAVE is not replacing Town Meeting or elected officials.
Final decisions about budgets and revenue measures always remain with Town Meeting voters and the community.
