Last Projectmeeting in Barcelona

On November 24 and 25 we met in Barcelona for the sixth transnational meeting of the SAVE Project (the fifth in attendance). In the afternoon of the 24th, the Multiplier Event organized by partner CRIA took place. The meeting was held at the Orpheus Cultural Center, Choral and Music School located in the Gracia neighbourhood. The meeting was attended by 30 people including teachers and project workers engaged in cultural and social promotion activities. During the meeting, all partners explained the experimentation done on the modules and illustrated the results that emerged, contributing to an active and participatory discussion focused on the innovative methods brought by the project. The audience interacted with interest, actively participating in the discussion. After the event, the partners visited the Orpheus Center and learned about the activities it promotes.

In the morning of November 25, the partners met to discuss and debate the content and text produced that will form the Final Manual. The chapters of the Final Handbook were written in October, and the meeting in Barcelona was an opportunity to discuss the texts and content. The Handbook will be an innovative tool and a valuable contribution to the ongoing debate in the various nations on the topic of Global Citizenship. The partners also discussed the different channels for disseminating the results obtained from the fruitful research done in the previous months and worked towards the imminent closure of the project. The Handbook will be published on the SAVE website.

Multiplier Event in Rome for SAVE

In the afternoon, during the coordination meeting, the multiplier event, organized by Cemea del Mezzogiorno and Solco, took place at CSV Lazio . We had the opportunity to discuss the topic of global citizenship with teachers and students. We presented the SAVE project, methodology and training tools designed to develop this theme in educational contexts. About 50 people attended the event and there was a very fruitful exchange between associations and organisations involved in voluntary work and especially in teaching language courses for foreigners. In the evening, all partners had a convivial time and visited the city centre.

In July and August, the partners worked on processing the data from the tests of the training modules and creating guidelines for the report that will be part of the IO3.

The report will be a useful tool for in-depth analysis and comparison on the topic of global citizenship and, above all, for innovation regarding formal and informal methods of education on global citizenship issues.

SAVE aims at increasing civic and citizenship skills for adult learners in integration during language courses (FLE), digital courses and basic skills. The results of the SAVE project are a methodological vademcum for teachers and trainers to become familiar with non-formal methods and the themes of global citizenship education.

Then the partners developed a toolbox with concrete activities for teachers/trainers to work on global citizenship during their classes. It also contains questionnaires to analyse the competences developed on global citizenship and civic and citizenship skills.

The toolkit contains 5 andragogical modules with several activities on the following topics:

My role in a sustainable society (DE)

Cultural diversity and intercultural communication (F)

Civic participation, historical memory, politics (IT)

Digital training (E )

Equal opportunities (SLO)

In total, you will find 24 activities for about 45 hours of global citizenship training. All of it is accessible here.

In a very productive meeting in Dingden, the team took stock of the experimentation phase and planned the next steps for the project. The SAVE manual will soon be published and will combine the methodological vademecum and the toolbox and will be enhanced by feedback from the experimentation phase. Feel free to test the toolbox in your courses and give us feedback!
