Reserved matters have been submitted — here’s how you can help protect Penrhos

Now that the detailed reserved matters have been sent to Anglesey County Council, the planning process moves into a critical stage. This is not the end; it is exactly the time when your voice and support matter most.

Below is exactly what you can do, and how you can help Save Penrhos Community CIC secure the future of Penrhos Nature Reserve and Coastal Park.

📝 1. Make your views known to the Council

The reserved matters are open for public comment. This is your chance to tell the planning committee what you think.

What to say:

• Point out that the plans have changed significantly from the 2016 outline permission, they are much larger in scale

• Highlight that car parking has increased from 600 to over 1,000 spaces, bringing extra traffic and pressure to a sensitive site

• Object to the removal of guaranteed free public access that generations have enjoyed

• Explain the importance of protecting the wildlife, ancient woodland, SSSI habitats, and landscape

• Ask the Council to reject these revised plans and support the community-led alternative

How to comment:

• Go to the Anglesey County Council planning portal

• Search for the application  TYPE IN THE BOX  the reference number [RM/2026/2]

• Submit your comments directly online before the deadline. OR...EMAIL YOUR OBJECTION TO: planning@anglesey.gov.wales

• Note: Comments must be about planning matters — not just opinions, but facts about impact, access, environment, and scale.

Our goal is clear: to own Penrhos for the community, permanently. This is the only way to guarantee free access, protect nature, and keep it open for everyone forever.

You can help by:

• Donating — every penny goes directly towards the purchase, legal fees, and management plan

• Sharing our fundraising appeal with friends, family, local groups, and businesses

• Taking part in our events and auctions — look out for our latest items and activities

• Leaving a gift or pledge if you are able, to help us reach our target

• Talk to your local councillors — ask them to stand up for Penrhos and support the community

• Write letters to local papers, radio stations, and TV outlets explaining why this place matters

💚 Why this matters

NRW saying they agreed “in principle” only means they accepted the idea of development, not this specific, much larger scheme. It is not final approval, and it does not give the developer the right to remove access or expand the site beyond what was originally agreed.

By acting now, you help us show the Council and all decision‑makers that Penrhos belongs to the community, and that we will fight to keep it safe.
