Johnny F. Shults
August 9th, 1957 - March 9th, 2018
Johnny F. Shults was the most senior founding active member of the San Angelo Umpire Association. There was nothing he wouldn't do for his beloved SAUA. He strongly believed in training young umpires and never turned down anyone who asked for his help. Johnny freely gave of his time, his home, and his money. Johnny devoted the last 38 years of his life to being a baseball umpire. Johnny wanted to help a High School Baseball player every season that intended on moving on to the college level. It was for this reason, and many more, that the San Angelo Umpire Association named this scholarship in his honor. The SAUA will award at least one area High School baseball player this scholarship every year on Johnny's behalf. Johnny lives inside all that knew him and now with this Scholarship, he will live inside those who did not know him.
