Become an Umpire

The San Angelo Umpires Association is always accepting new applications for membership.  There are no specific requirements for becoming a member of our Association other than an appreciation for the game of baseball and a commitment to learn and improve year after year.  Prior experience as an umpire, while helpful, is not required.

To prepare for the upcoming baseball season, in January, the SAUA provides two on-field trainings for new officials, as well as several classroom style trainings during the season. You will be required to pass a Rules Test and Mechanics Test in order to be assigned to high school games, both are open book. We will do our best to prepare you for each of those tests.

All members are encouraged to attend all chapter meetings and must attend 70% of our in-person meetings to be eligible to officiate during playoffs.
