Privacy Policy for Satsangi

At Satsangi, we are committed to protecting your privacy while supporting your spiritual journey. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data, including your interactions with our AI features and backup services.
1. Information We Collect and Process
- Default Usage (No Sign-In): If you use the App without enabling the backup feature, we do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII). We do not ask for your name, phone number, or any other personal details.
- Optional Cloud Backup: If you choose to enable the Google Drive Backup feature, we authenticate you via Google Sign-In and access your public Google profile information (specifically your email address, name, and profile picture) to manage your backup account. We do not sell, rent, or share this information with third parties.
- Microphone and Voice Chanting (On-Device): When you manually enable "Voice Chanting Mode", the App requests access to your device's microphone to perform speech-to-text recognition for mantra counting. All audio processing is handled completely locally on-device using native Speech-to-Text APIs. We do not record, save, upload, or transmit any audio files or voice data to our servers or any third-party services.
2. AI Interactions and Data Processing
When you use the "Satsang Margdarshan" (AI Chat) feature, the text of your questions is transmitted to Google's Gemini API for processing.
- Anonymity: Your queries are sent to Google without any personal identifiers. Google does not know who is asking the question.
- Usage: Google may process this data according to their Generative AI Privacy Policy to improve their services.
- Devotional Intent: This feature is purely built to help you in your devotional journey. We do not store or analyze your personal spiritual questions for any commercial purpose.
3. Local Storage and Google Drive Cloud Backup (Privacy First)
Your jap counts, rounds, statistics, reminder preferences, imported local audio files and metadata, and chat history are stored primarily on your device's local storage. This data remains private to you and is never transmitted to our servers.
To protect your data against accidental uninstalls or device changes, you may optionally sign in using Google Sign-In to backup your data to your private Google Drive space.
- Google Drive Access: We request access to the private appDataFolder scope in Google Drive. This allows the app to securely write and read a backup file (satsangi_backup.json) containing your stats, target settings, and custom mantras. The app cannot see, access, or modify any other files in your Google Drive.
- Daily Reminders: The App schedules daily reminder notifications locally on your device. These notifications and their timing preferences are processed entirely on-device and are not collected, tracked, or uploaded to any server.
4. Financial Information and Transactions
All voluntary contributions are handled securely through Google Play Billing and RevenueCat. We do not have access to your credit card or bank details.
5. Analytics and Performance Monitoring
We use Firebase Crashlytics and Google Analytics for Firebase to collect anonymized technical logs (device model, crash reports) solely for fixing bugs and ensuring app stability.
6. Children's Privacy
Our App is designed for a general spiritual audience. Since we do not collect personal information unless you explicitly sign in for backups, we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
You can delete all your local data by clearing the App's cache or using the "Clear History" features. You can delete your cloud backup data by choosing the sign-out option in the App or by revoking Google Sign-In permissions from your Google Account settings. For any anonymized identifiers held by third-party services (RevenueCat), you may request deletion via email.
8. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy as we add new features. Changes will be posted here with an updated date.
