I am pursuing my postdoctoral research with Dr. Sudarshan R. Kottai, a clinical psychologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Palakkad, on "History of Mental health/illness discourses in difficult times" since April 2024. This research focuses on the historical impact on the mental health of descendants of Indian indentured labourers in various former colonial colonies. We also focus on mental health in colonial South India during crises, such as famine.
I did my Ph.D. under the guidance of Dr. G. Chandhrika, Professor, Department of History, Pondicherry University, Puducherry, on "Famines as Social Crises in Colonial South India from 1865 to 1901" in 2022. This research examined the causes of the famine, social suffering, state measures, and private charity.
I did M.Phil. Research with the guidance of Dr. R. Velmurugan on “History of French Colonial Architecture in Pondicherry” at Kanchi Mamunivar Government Institute for Postgraduate Studies, Puducherry, in 2013. This research discusses the basic architectural styles of French colonial architecture with their history in Pondicherry (Puducherry).
I did my M.A. project under the guidance of Dr. Paokholal Haokip, Assistant Professor, Department of History, Pondicherry University, Puducherry, on “Sri Lankan Tamil refugees in India,” in 2012. This project provides a basic history of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees in India and their socio-economic conditions, with special reference to the Keezhpuththupattu refugee camp in Tamil Nadu.
