Traffic Operations
Traffic Operations is made up of three sections, which are the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Motorcycle Unit, and Vehicle Assistance and Recovery.

Motorcycle Unit (MBU)
Motorcycle Unit (MBU)
The Motorcycle Unit provides traffic escorts for dignitaries and assists with security and traffic operations at large public gatherings and special events. The unit also serves a patrol function, enforcing motor vehicle laws.
Vehicle Assistance and Recovery Section (VARS)
Vehicle Assistance and Recovery Section (VARS)
This section will handle all towing operations for the State Police, working in collaboration with private tow companies. This section will be responsible for clearing roadways of disabled vehicles, providing motorist assistance, and managing post-incident cleanup to ensure that traffic flow is restored as quickly as possible.

Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section (CVES)
Also called the "Truck Team," this unit has many duties and responsibilities. These duties include roadside inspection of commercial vehicles, ensuring the safety of hazardous substances in transport, operating weigh stations, local commercial vehicle enforcement, investigating commercial vehicle crashes, investigations, and operating the regional commercial vehicle academy.

The Marine Unit is devoted to ensuring that all waterways and vessels that operate on those waterways are operated properly and maintain a safe environment. Each day, the Marine Section strives to ensure that our waters are safe, clean, and reliable. We want to equip you with the travel information you need to plan your next trip out at sea, easily and conveniently.

The Air Unit provides the Commonwealth and its partner public safety agencies with airborne support and serves as the top-tier aviation unit within San Andreas. The Air Wing conducts collaborative missions for wanted, missing, and endangered persons while utilizing special equipment designed for electronic tracking and surveillance.

K9 Unit
The K-9 Unit’s role within the State of San Andreas’ Law Enforcement Departments is a centralized support and training service, which offers a specialized resource to the Departments through the professional utilization of an effective law enforcement tool, the Police Service Dog. The mission of the K-9 Unit is to enhance the Department’s efforts in crime prevention and detection, criminal apprehension, officer safety, and service to the community. They will assist with the help of our K-9 Partners, in the identification of illegal narcotics, assist in the recovery of missing persons, and the capture of fugitive suspects.

Special Tactical Operations (STOP) Team
The Special Tactical Operations (STOP) Team is a highly trained and specialized unit that serves as the Commonwealth’s SWAT team, managing high-risk and dangerous law enforcement situations across the state. Their primary duties include executing high-risk search and arrest warrants, often involving armed or violent suspects, as well as responding to hostage situations and barricaded individuals, where they work to achieve safe resolutions through tactical intervention and negotiation. The STOP Team also plays a vital role in active shooter response, utilizing rapid deployment and advanced tactical training to neutralize threats and protect the public. In addition, they support large-scale event security operations, including dignitary protection and crowd management, further contributing to public safety.

The community relations bureau operates to provide transparency between law enforcement and the public about law enforcement operations. The bureau is split into two separate teams. Our Public Information Team provides the community with insight into major situations that our law enforcement encounters and handle. Our Event Coordination Team carefully plans and executes fun and interactive events with other departments and the general public to shed a different light on law enforcement that isn't commonly seen.

The State Police Investigative Section is primarily tasked with conducting death investigations and addressing complex cases involving major felonies, violent crimes, organized crime, financial crimes, serious motor vehicle offenses, police-involved shootings, and threats against public officials. Troopers assigned to these units are required to employ innovative thinking and a range of advanced investigative methods. These methods include skilled interviewing and surveillance techniques, forensic testing, analysis of electronic devices and data, GPS monitoring, electronic wiretaps, and the use of advanced investigative software.

The State Police Gang Unit is dedicated to combating gang violence across the Commonwealth. Our Unit addresses the challenges posed by highly violent gangs operating across multiple jurisdictions within the state. In collaboration with municipal Gang Units, we engage in joint initiatives aimed at dismantling gangs and preventing their proliferation. Furthermore, our division specializes in the seizure of illegally obtained firearms, narcotics, and other illicit assets held by gangs or their members.

We are proud to be part of an organization that places a high value on integrity and public trust. The Internal Affairs Unit is charged with ensuring the level of trust and confidence the public has in its State Officials, and that our agency remains deserving of that trust. We also ensure the rights of our employees are protected and all persons involved in an inquiry are treated with dignity and respect. The Internal Affairs Unit investigates allegations of significant concern to the community.

Other allegations of misconduct are investigated by a supervisor in the employee’s Chain of Command. After an investigation is complete, depending on the allegation, the complaint is either reviewed by the employee’s Chain of Command or an Internal Affairs Review Board to determine a disposition. Complaint investigations completed by Internal Affairs are most often adjudicated by Chain of Command Review Board. These Boards are comprised of supervisors and command staff members from throughout the Department, as well as a representative from the Community Relations Bureau.
