What does Special Operations Division do?
The Special Operations division of the San Andreas State Police (SASP) is a critical component of law enforcement, consisting of two specialized units: the Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU) and the Canine Unit. The CIU is tasked with investigating and resolving complex and high-profile crimes, including homicides, organized crime activities, financial fraud, and drug trafficking. Detectives within the CIU employ advanced investigative techniques, forensic analysis, and surveillance to gather evidence and build cases for prosecution, working closely with other law enforcement agencies and prosecutors. On the other hand, the Canine Unit contributes significantly to operational effectiveness by utilizing specially trained police dogs for tasks such as suspect tracking, narcotics or explosives detection, search and rescue missions, and tactical support. Handlers in the Canine Unit undergo rigorous training to ensure the efficient deployment and utilization of police dogs in various law enforcement scenarios. Together, these units within Special Operations play a crucial role in enhancing public safety, combating serious crimes, and supporting the overall mission of the San Andreas State Police.
