Marlene Hinz Honorary Life Membership Award
Our good friend and now retired colleague, Marlene Hinz, was awarded a Honorary Life Membership Award from Carl Orff Canada on May 4, 2024 at the Constellations National Orff Conference in Vancouver, BC.
Marlene is very deserving of this award as she loves music, teaching and laughter and those are qualities that make her a special person for us in Saskatchewan. Marlene has been involved with the Saskatchewan Orff Chapter for 15 years and on the National Board for 12 years. She has served in many positions on these Boards over the years and through her leadership and expertise, Carl Orff has benefitted in many ways. Marlene is a true advocate for Music Education in Saskatchewan, Canada and beyond. She has presented numerous workshops locally, provincially and on the national stage. As an Orff Levels instructor Marlene exemplifies the true spirit of Carl Orff through her energy and enthusiasm. While watching Marlene teach the movement portion of an Orff Levels Course, you would observe her in her element as she led the students through songs and activities. She is an excellent role model for Orff educators in Canada.
Marlene is our good friend and we are lucky to have her as one of our own. She loves to laugh and her spirit is infectious. That’s what we love about her as she is a “Big Kid.” Over the years we have had many laughs and we look forward to many more, especially at this conference. So we thank you Marlene for being such a bright light in our world and sharing your love of life and music with us. You are deserving of this award and we applaud you.
