A campus with 5000 LAN ports operating on Cisco Catalyst 6513 and 6509 switches (with Sup32 and Sup720) reached end-of-life (EOL) and last date of support (LDOS). These devices required replacement with minimal downtime of just 12 hours, demanding meticulous planning.

The switches were replaced with Cisco Catalyst 4506 models. For Layer 3, Supervisor Engine 6-E was used, and for Layer 2, Supervisor Engine IV was deployed. Detailed planning ensured accurate port mapping, VTP, and VLAN expansion to extend identified VLANs seamlessly.
