Constitution
The Sarracenia purpurea International Network (SPIN) is an international organization of scientists conducting collaborative research with the S. purpurea inquiline system.
These policies can be discussed and edited during future SPIN meetings.
1. Membership
Membership of the working group will be available to any researcher studying Sarracenia purpurea, the inquiline community inside the leaves of Sarracenia purpurea, the interaction between the community and the plant, and to non-Sarracenia specialists with expertise ideal for collaborative Sarracenia research. We are committed to being inclusive to all career stages, gender identity and expressions, cultures and ethnicities. We promote collaboration over competition among members. Each member agrees to the guidelines put forth in this constitution. Members can join the working group at any time, as long as they agree to the guidelines.
2. Data Policies
Members of SPIN can share their data with other members of the group, but they also have the right to decide if their data should be allowed to be used by others in publications.
If there are multiple owners of the data (e.g., lab group projects), all members of the project need to come to a consensus on if the data can be shared and published.
3. Authorship
Co-authors will use the Co-Author Agreement document to decide authorship.
Order of authorship should be decided and agreed upon during the first draft of the manuscript. If authorship changes, the order/addition/deletion of co-authors needs to be discussed and agreed upon among all co-authors. Shared first author and senior author status is allowed.
