Meet Our Minister – Reverend W. Rhys Locke

Reverend W. Rhys Locke (M.A.) serves as Minister/Pastor of Saron Chapel, Crynant, bringing with him a deep sense of calling, pastoral care, and commitment to the life of the church and community.

Rhys trained for five years with the College of Welsh Independents, a formative period that shaped his ministry and deepened his understanding of service. During this time, he served as a Student Minister in Llangadog alngisde his mentor, Reverend Euros Jones Evans - gaining valuable experience in preaching, pastoral work, and church leadership. His training also included placements as an Honorary Chaplain with the local health board, supporting patients through visiting—an experience that strengthened his compassion and sense of purpose.

Rhys was accepted for ministerial training through the discernment and support of Saron Chapel, the Association/Cyfundeb, and the College, following years of real-life, purposeful experiences and preaching. Their recognition affirmed his calling and encouraged him to pursue ordained ministry.

Rhys leads the church alongside his wife, Elin, who plays a vital role in the life of Saron. In addition to church leadership, they also work in the world of Education. Elin leads the children’s work, contributes to worship, and serves faithfully across various areas of church life. Together, they share a heart for nurturing faith, supporting families, and helping the church grow in love and service.

Today, Rhys and Elin continue to serve Saron Chapel with warmth, dedication, and a deep desire to share the love and forgiveness of sin through Christ with all.
