Lawrence Lovelace
died March 24th, 1911

The identity of Lawrenee [sic] Lovelace remains unknown. Although the name that appears in the obituary is most likely a misspelling of Lawrence, there was no one living in the Polk Station area at this time with that name either. A mention in the Polk local column of The Commercial from February 1911 reads that "Mr. Lonce Lovelace is quite sick with pnuemonia." The closest match to these mentions that can be found is Martin Lunsford Lovelace, who was born in December of 1870. His death date is unknown but assumed to be between 1910 and 1918. Martin Lunsford also has relatives buried at the Sardis Cemetery, including his wife, Mattie Guy Lovelace, and sister, Delilah Hauser. It is not unlikely that this "Lawrence Lovelace" was Martin Lunsford Lovelace.

This obituary was published in the Polk local column in The Commercial (Union City, Tenn.) on Friday, March 31st, 1911.
