Hello! I am Sarbartha Bhattacharya (সর্বার্থ ভট্টাচার্য্য), a Mathematics PhD student at the University of Minnesota (UMN), Twin Cities working with Tsao-Hsien Chen. My preferred pronouns are he/him/his. I plan to graduate in Spring 2027, and am currently on the job market.
I completed my Bachelor of Science (Research) and Master of Science degree with a major in Mathematics from the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.
My interests broadly lie in the intersection of Number Theory, Algebraic Geometry and Representation Theory, more specifically in topics around the local Langlands correspondence. Currently, the main object of study in my research is the Bernstein center for the category of smooth representations of a p-adic group. I have also developed some recent interest in the study of representations of p-adic groups using ideas from geometric representation theory, more specifically on geometrization/ categorification of the center.
I am an ardent student of Mathematics, attempting to explore as much as possible of its vast and beautiful world. Apart from Mathematics, I am a huge fan of football (soccer). I play recreationally and watch a lot of games.
The best way to reach me is via my email bhatt356[at]umn[dot]edu.
