NOTE: Most of my work is originally in Serbian, but I have translated it into English for accessibility. You can find it here—hope you enjoy it!
My curatorial project, titled Cold War Rays: Coup d’État Consequences on Art in Brazil, Iraq, and Congo, examines the socio-political upheavals of the 1960s in these countries and their profound impact on the development of new art movements and styles. Through this project, I aim to highlight how political tensions and coups shaped the artistic landscape, reflecting the intersection of art and global politics during the Cold War era. This project also serves as a platform to present my ideas in the curatorial field, as I aspire to pursue a career in curating and aim to create thought-provoking exhibitions that engage viewers and provoke meaningful dialogue.
The exhibition of Vladimirka Velaga at the Dorćol Cultural Center in Belgrade marks my first curatorial project, where I collaborated closely with the artist on the catalogue, brochure, as well as the logistical aspects of the exhibition and spatial organization. The works tell a story about the 1990s in Bosnia and Herzegovina, focusing on the artist’s family, the heritage that remains as her personal legacy, and the broader socio-cultural context of kitsch culture that was prominent during the wartime 1990s across the former Yugoslavia.
On Medium, I plan on writing analytical art essays to engage with topics that interest me and expand my knowledge of art, art history, art institutions, exhibitions, artists, and artistic phenomena. My approach intertwines these subjects with socio-political questions, examining how art reflects, influences, or responds to contemporary issues. By doing so, I aim to offer insightful, well-researched perspectives that both educate and spark discussion.
