Play based learning: research and practice
Play based learning: research and practice
I have had an interest in supporting play-based approaches to learning for young children since undertaking study visits to Norway and Japan, and have read extensively on the approach.
In 2019, I designed and facilitated a research project with teachers exploring the implementation of play-based learning into Year One classrooms, which resulted in the publication of this booklet.
In 2021, I was able to put this research into practice when I founded School 360, an experimental school with play as one of its core principles. The school remains committed to play as it grows. I was also asked to author a chapter to in a new book about play, authored by the PEDAL unit at Cambridge University.
