In my time at the Philip Weltner Library, I have collaborated with my coworkers to create several events. I have also developed several of my own. Even if I am not the lead on one of these projects, I am always happy to be involved. Below are several examples of our work.

Paint at the Library

Inspired by a similar event that was held on campus earlier that semester, I developed a Paint at the Library event for Women's History Month. Students were invited to come and paint works inspired by a few obscure women of history: Rosalind Franklin, Mae Jemison, and Hypatia. Snacks and supplies were provided, but it was still a fairly low-budget event due to the school already having some of those resources.

Here are some of the images that we used as examples for the students.

These materials were kindly supplied by the Student Center, so everything pictured here (besides the tablecloth) was free!

These are the works of art that students, staff, and I created based on obscure women in history.

Winter Holiday Events

Just before students left for Winter Break in 2018, I assisted a co-worker with several activities. These events were intended to offer some stress relief for students who were going through finals. Activities included an indoor snowball fight, sugar cookie decorating, pop-in coloring (students would drop in and color a giant coloring book sheet) and more.

The snowballs that we used for our indoor snowball fight.

Students really enjoyed being able to throw soft balls at each other! Each "fight" lasted for about three minutes, three times that day.

I am pictured here right after we set up the cookies and frosting. Passerbys stopped in their tracks when they saw food.

The coloring page that Alyssa chose was a giant dragon. Students filled it up way faster than expected, so I later had to print out some free coloring pages and tape them around this dragon so they could keep coloring.

Along with my coworker, I run pop-up library events for our academic library.
