Hi, I’m Sarah Greenwood, a mixed media artist, painter, and art instructor based in Ontario, Canada. My creative journey revolves around the joy of experimenting with various art mediums and techniques. Whether exploring abstract art or creating intimate, emotional pieces based on personal memories, I’m always pushing the boundaries of what art can be.
I specialize in mixed media, using everything from acrylics to markers and even ultraviolet-reactive paints. I’m constantly evolving my practice, merging surface design techniques, geometric abstraction, and intricate patterning into my artwork. I aim to create pieces that are not only visually striking but also deeply meaningful.
I also love to teach, sharing the techniques and passion that drive my art practice with others. I believe everyone has the potential to tap into their creativity, and my goal as an instructor is to guide that process in a way that feels authentic and fulfilling.
I share my creative journey, behind-the-scenes processes, and new works regularly on Instagram and TikTok. I’d love for you to join me along the way! Follow me at:

Creating abstract artwork is an immersive, meditative process for me—one that’s as much about the experience as it is about the result. The time-consuming act of building up layers, intricately patterning, and playing with colour and form is central to my creative practice. I’m drawn to the simplicity of constructivism, where the purpose of creating is just that: to create. It’s a place where the rules and structures can be bent, where chaos and harmony coexist, and where each piece feels like an exploration in and of itself.
Bright, bold acrylics are my medium of choice. The vibrant colours are a source of dopamine, and I love the challenge of balancing complex patterns—often created with scrip liners and acrylic paint markers—with moments of rest in the form of monochromatic shapes. This balance allows the eye to move freely, taking in the intricate details while enjoying moments of stillness.
In my recent work, I’ve been experimenting with ultraviolet reactive paint and three-dimensional elements, pushing the boundaries of how I interact with both my materials and the viewer’s experience. Using mixed media, I combine surface design techniques and diverse materials to create one-of-a-kind pieces that invite deep engagement and discovery.
Another facet of my practice is creating artwork rooted in personal memories and emotions. These pieces often begin with a photograph, a moment in time, but evolve through the process of editing colours, altering compositions, and mixing references. The goal is to capture not just the image, but the feeling—preserving the essence of that moment and infusing it with my own artistic interpretation.
These works often feature people I love—friends, family, and loved ones—transforming shared experiences into visual stories. I use layers of markers on pen and paper to build texture, depth, and emotional resonance, creating an atmospheric perspective that transports the viewer into the world of the piece. Each drawing becomes a journey back to that moment, a way to relive the emotion and the connection tied to it.
