My overall career goal is to become a physician, hopefully in the palliative care and hospice sector. I came to the decision that I wanted to work in palliative care after my healthcare and ethics course that I took at Dominican. In this course we were introduced to the topic of dying with dignity and I found that concept beautiful and something that I would want to be able to provide for people. I further explored this concept in a Saturday course that I took called palliative and end of life care, which further reinforced this.
However, after earning my Bachelor's degree from Dominican I do not want to go straight into medical school. I originally wanted to take a gap year to become a MA and work as one, but I now think that I want to apply to master's in entry level nursing programs. I admire the nursing model of healthcare and I want to be able to learn how to advocate for patients and care for them.
