Community of Practice

I find being part of a community of practice provides invaluable opportunities for professional growth, knowledge exchange, and staying up to date with evolving trends and best practices in the industry. I feel very fortunate to belong to a community of practice at my workplace.

Many of us take turns facilitating sessions, sharing our knowledge and providing opportunities for discussion. Here are some of the sessions I developed and facilitated:

I'm really passionate about how adults learn.  I love discussing theories of adult learning and finding creative ways to put them into practice. In this session, I focused on Malcolm Knowles' Principles of Adult Learning and discussed how to implement them.

Visual design is essential to creating impactful learning experiences because it enhances the learner's engagement and understanding. Effective visual elements can simplify complex information, making it more accessible and memorable for learners. In this session I covered the power of visual communication, explored the principles of visual design, and discussed how to effectively apply them in the creation of learning materials.

I love creating videos for learning! It is by far one of my favourite things to do. Using storytelling in learning is very powerful, and videos are an excellent tool for that. I was thrilled to lead this session on video animation. During the session, we went over how to write scripts, create storyboards, and the basics of video animation using Vyond.

My colleague and I worked together to deliver this series of sessions. Since AI is a hot topic with huge potential in the learning industry, we aimed to deepen our understanding to apply it in our work. These sessions included exploring AI text-generation tools like ChatGPT, AI image generators, and selecting expert webinars for group viewing.
