Sara Davis Horst
2023 District 4 School Board Candidate
Rockingham County Public Schools
District 4 Precincts (401-406):
Bridgewater, Mt. Crawford, Ottobine, North River, Montezuma
Attorney General Jason Miyares: "Our local elections matter. In Rockingham County, I'm happy to support our Republican-endorsed school board candidates. They understand the simple principle that parents matter."
Lt. Governor Winsome Earle-Sears told the candidates: “Every child in Rockingham County deserves access to the highest quality education and a curriculum that empowers them to succeed both in and out of the classroom. Sara Horst, Ashley Burgoyne, and Hollie Cave are the advocates your school board desperately needs. I am proud to offer each of them my full endorsement.”
“Sara, Ashley, and Hollie share my commitment to preserving parental rights in the classroom, improving test scores, and ensuring the safety and security of every student. I know they will each do a tremendous job paving the way to a brighter and more transparent education for our children and I hope you will join me in supporting these fantastic candidates on Election Day,” Sears added.”

I live in Bridgewater, VA with my family. I was born and raised, right here in Rockingham County. I am a graduate of Turner Ashby High School. My husband and I have been married for nearly 20 years. We have three children, ages 13, 10, and 5. Our dog, Milo, is a Certified Therapy Dog, who enjoys visiting with students. We are active members at New Beginnings Church, and I volunteer at Hope Distributed.
I have been involved in education for 20 years. I have a Masters of Science in Elementary Education from Old Dominion University, and I'm licensed to teach PreK - 6th Grade. I also have my Master of Education in Reading from James Madison University, and am licensed as a Reading Specialist for students in PreK-12th Grade. I was the Ottobine Elementary School Teacher of the Year in 2015.
I began my teaching career in 2007, and have only recently resigned. Having taught multiple grade levels (1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th) and having served as a reading specialist in our county, I am well informed on the issues that our schools and community face regarding the education of our children.
My resignation from teaching has enabled me to run for School Board in District 4 in the 2023 Election, and allows me to bring my knowledge, experience, and an insider's view to the table. I'm passionate about providing exceptional education in RCPS!
