Craft Your Gift

The CRAFT YOUR GIFT is a campaign run by WOODCRAFT GALLERY that aims to encourage the beginners but the art enthusiasts to practice wood carving. It helps to make one be more creative and add a new talent to their life. It is an one day session on every Saturdays, that has maximum 5 hours of hands on tools practice. Each participants gets a set of tools for learning and practicing the what the instructors provide them guidance. 

The main purpose to initiate this campaign is to promote Newari Traditional Wood Carving Culture and Newari Art. In 21st century modern art and architecture has taken a big leap and made everyone dependent however people in general are being more unproductive due to the excess use of such tech. that are called smart. Hence to revive the practice to make people physically, and mentally active; to make people more creative and productive and to preserve the near to extinct Art and Craft culture we are running this campaign. 

In the campaign, how one can participate? What are the requirements to participate? How long one can participate? What one can learn? are the common questions we receive in our gallery. 

Here are some lists of things that you should know:

1. The participations in the campaign is free or minimal charge would be applicable. [However, since the establishment, it was made free of cost. Though some kind hearted people did charity for supporting the cost of expenses for the Campaign. That helped us a lot to run our campaign.]

2. We suggest our participants to wear flexible pants or trousers since we practice our work on completely Traditional Practice, that is we work on floor. Some soft mattresses would be provided for seat along with a block of wood as a working table or stand. 

3. We have welcome speech and briefing for the session where every one would get the first session of guidance on tools (different types of tools, their names, the shape edge that is for working, and do's and don'ts). 

4. After briefing the practical is done and our instructors helps each and everyone in the session with information and guidance on hands on tools.

5. Since the campaign is to make it an one day session so we provide small motifs that is 2" W x 4" L x 1" H inches wood piece. 

6. For all kind of participants, those who thinks wood carving is just nothing but very easy, those who thinks I can do it and I want to learn it, those who already know the work and professional Carvers can participate in the campaign. So we expect to exchange our knowledge and guidance to know more about the foreigner and their working techniques. 

7. Since the campaign is to make Art and Craft, we always try to make it interesting, knowledgeable, and safe with tools.
