Notes: Really beautiful shot in an intimate space. Lots of zooms, but a good amount of wider shots too with a very limited (almost nonexistent) amount of heads. The lighting in this theater really liked my camera and I know the show almost “by heart” so I think I followed the action as well as possible. My battery died during the last song, but it starts at the very beginning with only one drop out during dialogue.

NOTES: Beautiful HD close-ups but some long drop-outs and quite a few obstructed scenes. The rake in the mezzanine at the Neil Simon kinda stinks and I'm pretty sure the ushers were playing flashlight tag with each other the entire show. but I began to care a lot less as the night went on Video is very Cher-centric...choreography in "Dark Lady" is captured beautifully, but for the rest of the show I was mostly focused on getting those Stephanie, Teal, and Micaela zooms. We start at the scene before "Half Breed" and when Stephanie tells everyone to stand up for the finale it's all over for my filming ability.

NOTES: The show started about 15 minutes late, and it was announced that Raúl Esparza had a throat infection, but was going on anyway. Poor thing, he was very clearly struggling vocally throughout the show. However, he was still incredible in the part, despite the voice cracks and alternate notes. His voice seemed to be back for a stunning "Pity The Child." The entire cast is just stunning. The energy of this crowd is amazing, especially for a matinee. All four leads and Bryce Pinkham got entrance applause. Every single cast member is simply amazing. A truly special night of theater.

NOTES: A fantastic capture of the Hollywood Bowl's annual Broadway show. This production follows the 2009 revival staging fairly closely with some occasional improvised lines and different blocking to accommodate the larger stage. The cast is full of energy; Hunter and Benjamin make a great pair. Kristen's voice isn't as strong as the others, but she's still fun to watch. Amber was the standout for me; she kills all of her solos. Filmed on a tripod, so it's very steady except for the occasional jerkiness when panning. There is a bit of grain in the video due to the distance from the stage, but it's well captured with no blackouts. The only obstruction happens when someone briefly walks across the walkway in front of the camera. It's filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent as usual. Includes curtain call, encore, and playbill scans.

Somewhere That’s Green (Reprise) is the only majorly whitewashed part, but other than that it’s not too much of an issue. Overall, it’s a pretty decent capture of the show, considering it’s my first video master.

Sara Bareilles was on fire (rewarded with a 45-second applause after SUTBM), and the audience was very enthusiastic. A pity because it's a strong performance by the original cast during the show's ascent. Sometimes mislabeled as September 1, 2004; Taye was only in the show from December 22 2003 - January 18 2004 while Norbert Leo Butz was out due to a back injury.
