SANGGAR KIRANA was first established in February 2002 with the aim of promoting Malaysian culture, developing traditional music and instilling arts and music skills among varsity students. The establishment of SANGGAR KIRANA was initiated with a gamelan co-curriculum class. The passion to inspire, motivate, influence, educate and communicate through traditional gamelan music - marks the birth of SANGGAR KIRANA.
SANGGAR KIRANA is united in its commitment to broaden their expansion plan and looks forward to create a new identity and genre of traditional Malaysian music which portrays the diversity of Malaysian culture encompassing myriad of ethnic races. Currently, the group consists of 46 students under the baton of SHAZRUL HAZWAN ROSLAN and TEUKU UMAR ILANY TEUKU ISKANDAR.
Becoming an elegant gamelan group that brings the colorful world of traditional Malaysian music from all walks of life and build new audience thus allowing people to appreciate the essence of gamelan music.
